This year we are expecting the earliest harvest on record for Oregon, so getting our 2014 Pinot Noir in bottle has us breathing a sigh of relief! After all, it won't be long before the cellar is full of fermenting grapes for our 2015 vintage of Pike Road.
Making wine is seasonal, everything depends on the life-cycle of the grapevines. When the grapes start to turn color, that's when we like to see the previous vintage safely in bottle to make room for the upcoming harvest. Some years we are waiting for weeks for the grapes to ripen, this year it was a race to get everything else done in time.
