Tasting Notes

Single clone Dijon 115 grown at high elevations within the Dundee Hills in shallow volcanic soils. The 2018 Meyer leans towards a savory style of Pinot Noir with distinct meatiness layered with warm spices of cinnamon, clove, and peppercorns. The fruit is a complex mix of raspberry, pomegranate, and blueberries with minty freshness to brighten the wine’s long, slightly dusty finish.

About Meyer Vineyard

We have been participating in a grape swap with Lemelson Vineyards for many years now using fruit from a 2001 planting of Pinot Noir planted between 550 and 800 feet. This beautiful vineyard is tucked up high into the famed Dundee Hills AVA and offers a classic example of Pinot Noir growing on volcanic Jory and Nekia soils. The site is farmed using organic methods to encourage healthy, living soils while also taking extra care to minimize water usage and respect wildlife habitat.

The 2018 Vintage

2018 was a vintage for rich, bold flavors in Willamette Valley wines. Starting hot and dry through the spring and summer, by September rain was a welcome relief. Cooler temperatures during harvest slowed ripening and increased hang-time. With multiple vineyards ripening simultaneously in October, our crew put in long hours at the end of crush. Their hard work has paid off with bold fruit-forward red wines and fresh, stone-fruited white wines that veer into the tropical. 2018 was a warm vintage that ended cool giving us wines with a captivating combination of flavors.
