2020 Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir
Yamhill-Carlton AVA
Tasting Notes
Our 2020 Shea is a blend of two different Shea Vineyard blocks. Block 18 is Dijon 777 clone and represents the backbone of the wine, while Block 16 adds some Pommard fruit to the mix. Both are planted in the region's shallow marine sediment soils, producing a silky, highly complex Pinot Noir with an incredibly long finish.
About Shea Vineyard
Shea Vineyard sits in the heart of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA and is farmed by our friends Dick & Deirdre Shea. This is arguably the most famous vineyard for Oregon Pinot Noir because of the many well-known wineries that make a Single Vineyard Shea wine, including our sister brand Elk Cove Vineyards and neighbors Ken Wright, Bergstrom, Penner-Ash and others. It's worth checking out the Shea Vineyard website to learn more about this unique vineyard. Wines from Shea vineyard are earthy with a black cherry kick
2020 Vintage
The 2020 growing season started with a small fruit-set and mild summer weather. Soon we faced the challenges of farming during a pandemic and wildfires, but we, along with our growing partners managed to adapt to the difficulties of the vintage. We ran more laboratory tests than ever before, with dozens of samples sent to multiple laboratories, and are committed to releasing only wines free of smoke-affect that passed our rigorous tests. In 2020 you can expect wines with great concentration and freshness of the fruit.
