2023 Sidekick Cuvee Pinot Noir
Willamette Valley AVA
Tasting Notes:
A blend of six local vineyards, this small-production Pinot Noir showcases warm cherries, rhubarb pie, and blueberry, with floral rose petal, thyme, and hints of dusty cinnamon and nutmeg baking spices.
The Sidekick Cuvee:
The Sidekick Cuvee is 100% northern Willamette Valley fruit. This includes smaller lots of Pinot Noir fruit grown by trusted partners and blended by our talented Winemaker Heather Perkin. By selecting fruit just a handful of these wonderful growers we're able to produce a small-production Willamette Valley Pinot Noir for all our club members and fans who discover our delicious Pinot Noirs! Vintage after vintage the Sidekick Cuvee overdelivers in both value and complexity.
2023 Vineyards Blend:
Simoni Vineyard, Covey Ridge Vineyard, Fairsing Vineyard, Sisu Vineyard and Mount Richmond Vineyard.
The 2023 Vintage:
A whirlwind of a vintage, in 2023 September rains slowed the pace of harvest, bringing relief to our crew and vineyard partners and enhancing hang-time. Our growing season started slow with a late bud break, followed by steady ripening during a classic Oregon summer with warm days and cool nights, punctuated by one August heat spike. The welcome September rains gave our vineyard sites the hang time they needed for slower ripening and intense flavor development. Fruit arrived from our 20+ vineyard partners from September 15th through October 6th in beautiful condition with smaller-than-average yields. Expect intense, fruit-forward wines from this vintage.
